Many hotels near the harbor offer reduced weekend rates. Some offer seasonal reductions during winter months, and some arrange special rates for conventions. Visitors interested in a more subdued atmosphere may consider one of the historic hotels in Mount Vernon (1 mi/1.6 km north of the harbor)—a stroller's paradise with architectural gems, cozy shops and cultural institutions.
