This walled town has an excellent Friday market, well-preserved mud walls, multistoried buildings, several old souks (markets—rhymes with dukes) and houses. Generally speaking, we wouldn't go out of our way to visit Amran unless it's a Friday—market day—when the souks are especially active. 30 mi/50 km by road northwest of Sana'a.
