This stately villa was the home of Henri Pharaon, a founding father of independent Lebanon and designer of the nation's flag. He was also an avid collector, filling his home and garden with Syrian decorative art (painted wood paneling, carved stone, marble mosaics) and antiquities. Mouawad, a renowned Lebanese jeweler, purchased the villa and had it restored, adding his own antique jewelry and other artworks to the collection. Open Tuesday-Sunday 9 am-5 pm. Admission 9,000 LL adults. Rue de l'Armee (on Serail Hill), Beirut. Phone 01-980-970. http://www.rmpm.info.
