Southeastern Utah contains many structures built by the Anasazi people, and Blanding makes a good base for exploring them. Some of the best-preserved are in Hovenweep National Monument, which is a collection of six deserted Anasazi villages. It's notable for the masonry structures that look as much like medieval castles as they do Native American pueblos. Another well-preserved Anasazi village is in Edge of the Cedars State Park. There's a museum there that documents the cultures of the people who have lived in the area over the centuries.
