Located midway down the beach from bustling Punta Cancun, this property does a good job of trying to out-ritz the nearby Ritz-Carlton. The atmosphere is traditional yet urban, with chandeliers and pseudo-1930s architecture lending a formality that can strike guests as either stiff for a tropical resort or refreshingly different from the flimsy rattan-and-palms look of many of its competitors.
