Covering 106 acres/43 hectares of pristine shoreline, this beach straddles the mouth of the Carmel River. Riptides are a danger, so resist the temptation to swim. From Highway 1 in Carmel, the park is a mile/kilometer south of Ocean Avenue. Turn right on Rio Road toward the Carmel Mission, then turn left onto Carmelo Street to the parking lot.
