Also known as Historic North Charlotte, this former turn-of-the-century mill village lies a few miles/kilometers north of Uptown on North Davidson Street between 30th and 36th streets. Blessed with the attention and enthusiasm of local artists, it now serves as a home for art galleries, restaurants, music venues, funky shops and performing-arts theaters. Because of renewed interest in the area, renovated mill houses and new condominiums are beckoning home buyers. Free public Gallery Crawls, held the first and third Friday nights of each month, are increasingly popular: Throngs of people weave in and out of the galleries, shops and restaurants along North Davidson Street. http://www.noda.org.
