Savannah Vacation Planning Guide

Communication Tips for Savannah

With the advent of cell phones, payphones are scarce. Generally, coverage for cell phones has improved in the area. Local calls do not require the 912 area code.

Internet Access

Internet cafes are becoming increasingly common in Savannah, and most motels, hotels and other accommodations also offer Internet access.

Newspapers & Magazines

The Savannah Morning News is the region's main daily newspaper. "Diversions," the paper's entertainment section, is published every Friday as part of the newspaper and is also distributed free in restaurants, shops and hotels throughout Savannah.

Savannah Scene is a visitor magazine that offers information about sightseeing, dining, shopping and local history, as well as a bimonthly calendar of events that includes extensive entertainment listings. It's available at the Savannah Visitor Information Center, at the airport and at many other places around town.

Connect Savannah, a weekly news magazine, offers in-depth reporting and lengthy feature stories. The Savannah Business Report is a monthly publication with features on new area businesses and business trends. Savannah Magazine is published bimonthly, with a focus on people in the local spotlight, fashion and health. The South is a bi-monthly glossy magazine focusing on Savannah and its surrounding areas. The magazine is heavy on gloss and on fashion, though it is becoming well known for its journalistic features examining local institutions, such as Memorial Health University Medical Center, the area's largest hospital.
