Professional Review
On the banks of the Hai River, the Astor Hotel is one of the more distinctive hotels in China and a National Cultural Relic Preservation Site with an ideal location for exploring Tianjin. Built in 1863 by British interests, this property was the first in China to admit foreigners. The present proprietors are capitalizing on that history, despite additions that have confused some of the original character in the main reception area, mixing modern Chinese marble with elegant old-world decor.
