Less than one block from the Phillips Collection and its nearest competitor, the superior Hilton Embassy Row, two blocks from Dupont Circle Metro station, near shopping, this hotel was overdue for a thorough renovation. It was undergoing a total makeover at inspection in spring 2008. With less than one-third of the accommodations operational, dining relegated to a makeshift room, and a single meeting room entertaining conferences, this hotel should be avoided until all the work is completed.
