Visitors who want to escape the hustle and bustle of San Juan should head up to the mountains of Aibonito, about a one-hour drive toward the central region of the island. This town is known for its flowers and refreshing climates. A flower festival is held annually the last week of June through the first week of July and is a must-see for a wide variety of orchids and tropical flowers in vibrant colors. The Piedra Degetau observatory and nearby restaurant are an ideal stopover. About 45 mi/72 km south of San Juan.
