The more expensive the hotel, the less likely it is that breakfast is included in the room rate. When booking in advance, always inquire whether the hotel has an elevator (called a "lift"), as Dutch staircases are extraordinarily narrow and steep, and many canal-house hotels aren't permitted to install them.
