Accommodations range from deluxe, five-star international properties to estancias (ranch houses) to below-standard hotels. Some of the quaint inns and rural hotels are more than adequate, fairly inexpensive and fun to stay in, but look at a room before putting any money down—some are filthy. To minimize the potential for problems, stay in as deluxe a property as budget permits in the countryside. In towns and cities where tourists congregate, however, overall standards are among the best in South America.
