This region in the center of the country is Mongolia's version of Switzerland—with beautiful mountains, meadows, rivers, lakes and forests. It includes the Khangai Mountains, the second-highest range in the country, as well as the Chuluut River, with a scenic gorge and the Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur, or White Lake. Arkhangai is a marvelous area for trekking on foot or horseback. There is also excellent fishing in the area. Tsetserleg, the capital of the province, has a beautiful mountain setting.
