A fascinating 1.6-mi/2.6-km walking tour of Beacon Hill that documents the history of Boston's African-American community between 1800 and 1900. Guided tours led by National Park Service rangers begin at the Robert Gould Shaw and 54th Regiment Memorial, on the Boston Common at the corner of Park and Beacon streets.
