Most of the new four-star business hotels are in the downtown Microcentro area, where banks, government agencies and many big companies are located, or in Retiro and Puerto Madero. The Microcentro area also has shopping, theater and art galleries, though it's not the most picturesque part of town. The Recoleta neighborhood, a 15-minute drive north, is a more upscale area, with more expensive hotels, shops, restaurants, art galleries, museums and entertainment options. Slightly farther north, a small number of boutique hotels makes Palermo a nice base for visitors who prefer an artsy, residential neighborhood with its own nightlife options.

Hilton Buenos Aires
Macacha Guemes 351, Buenos Aires, Argentina
In a bold seven-story chrome and glass rectangle in Buenos Aires' revitalized port district, this sleek temple to modern design is a cornerstone of Puerto Madero's rehabilitation. This trendy canalside complex cuts a pristine profile on the banks of this once abandoned commercial district. Modern de... Read Entire Review »
InterContinental Hotel Buenos Aires
809 Moreno St, Buenos Aires, Argentina
On the rather scruffy southern perimeter of the city center (the location is not this hotel's strongest suit), two blocks south of Avenida de Mayo, and two blocks east of Avenida 9 de Julio, this operation is close enough to the heart of things to warrant attention. However, its proximity to several... Read Entire Review »

Aspen Towers Hotel
Paraguay 857, Buenos Aires, Argentina
This shiny glass-trimmed building was once disappointing, but after a thorough refurbishment in mid-2006, guests no longer leave the Aspen complaining about the worn and soiled carpets. Buenos Aires cE Design Hotel
Marcelo T de Alvear 1695, Buenos Aires, Argentina

Caesar Park Buenos Aires
Posadas 1232, Recoleta, Buenos Aires, Argentina
This 18-story hotel built in 1992 across from the chic Patio Bullrich shopping mall is on a par with the Four Seasons. Eurostars Claridge
Tucuman 535, Buenos Aires, Argentina
This property still ranks itself among the city's best hotels, but in reality, the place is not what it once was. Marriott Plaza Hotel Buenos Aires
Calle Florida 1005, Buenos Aires, Argentina
Occupying a fine beaux-arts building designed by Alfred Zucker (who was also responsible for St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York), this is no standard Marriott, and the portrait of the Marriott brothers in the lobby looks comically out of place. This 1909 monument is one of the most graceful structu... Read Entire Review »
