This lovely fountain (named Genius of Water) was erected in 1871 and remains the centerpiece of Fountain Square, a downtown gathering place that's a popular spot for lunch and for an evening stroll. It was recently repositioned to make better use of the central city space. Impromptu poetry readings, political events, A Taste of Cincinnati and the annual Oktoberfest also convene around the fountain. Fifth and Vine streets, downtown, Cincinnati.
