If you don't mind traffic congestion, you can visit this northeast Washington, D.C., suburb to see the College Park Aviation Museum, located at the world's oldest operating airport. The first Army Aviation School started there around 1911, and the Wright brothers once taught at the school. Aviation buffs will enjoy the visit, and will want to re-enact the Wright brother's flight in the flight simulator. (Call for times of operation.) College Park is also the location of the main campus of the University of Maryland. 30 mi/50 km southwest of Baltimore.
