Accommodations range from deluxe, world-class resorts and hotels to smelly dives. We suggest staying in as nice a property as you can afford to reduce the possibility of problems. Larger hotels require payment with foreign currency or credit cards, but smaller hotels accept Egyptian pounds. Be aware that if you stay near the pyramids in Giza or near the airport, you'll be isolated from the shopping and activities of central Cairo.
