Adjacent to the convention center, Gaylord Entertainment Complex and Country Music Hall of Fame, this hotel casts a big, bold silhouette on the Nashville skyline. It fails to match the high standards of the Renaissance, but this all-suite alternative is nevertheless a fine midrange commercial hotel with enough diversions to attract individuals and small groups in search of space. Carnivores love that The Palm steak house is on-site.
The slightly arching, 12-story rectangular taupe building opens to a handsome paneled lobby with plenty of traditional style, all on a large scale. This is a full step above the usual trappings found at local Embassy Suites hotels. The competition here is stiff, and this hotel offers a cooked-to-order breakfast each morning in the main restaurant. Big eaters, with big expense accounts, head to Palm's Nashville franchise, located just off the lobby, but reached from a separate street entrance. A tiny cafe serves up croissants and espresso throughout the day.
The large indoor pool, gym and whirlpool provide alternatives for active guests. The extensive meeting space boasts more than a dozen conference rooms, with the largest accommodating up to 650 at banquets. High-speed Internet
access and state-of-the-art audiovisual equipment are available. Credit cards activate the copiers and fax machines in the automated, 24-hour business center. Expensive valet parking and a gift shop for gum and magazines round out the options here.
The large, contemporary-style two-room suites are slated for renovations. For now, they display dark masculine color schemes and well-designed custom and built-in furniture. Living areas are equipped with sofa beds and armchairs with ottomans, dining tables that second as desks, and wet bars with microwave ovens, coffeemakers and refrigerators. The average-sized bedrooms have plantation accents, with spindle beds, tropical prints and louvered closet doors. Two TVs, phones with voice mail, speakers and data ports, radio alarm clocks, irons and ironing boards are common to all. The bright baths have spacious vanities. Room service runs until midnight. Pets are not permitted.
The efficient staff is rightfully proud of this adeptly run, centrally located hotel for business and leisure.
