This hotel, 300 m from town, five km (with 14 hair-raising hairpin bends) from Machu Picchu, is a delightful, rambling hacienda-style resort parked at the base of one of the world's greatest archeological sites. Tucked into an exotic jungle valley overlooking the roaring Urubamba River and the razorback peaks of the Andes, this lovely village-like compound can't compete with the Sanctuary Lodge's location by the ruins, but surpasses its only competitor in many other respects—especially roominess
