Although Kansas does not offer the range of accommodations found in the world's most cosmopolitan centers, visitors will have no difficulty finding comfortable, well-maintained lodging. The national hotel and motor-lodge chains have properties in the bigger towns, and independent hotels, bed-and-breakfasts and campgrounds are available in many locations. There are also several working ranches and farms that offer simple accommodations to guests who want a taste of life on the prairie. In the spring, some private ranchers invite guests to assist during the annual prairie fire for a fee.
