This town in Greek Cyprus has long been known for its lace—even Leonardo da Vinci traveled there to buy some for the altar of the cathedral of Milan. Today, Lefkara's houses and cobbled streets have been restored, and you'll find small souvenir shops and restaurants. The handmade lace is pricey: Those little ladies tatting by their houses know the value of their work. Lefkara is usually seen as a half-day trip from Ayia Napa or Larnaca. 22 mi/35 km south of Nicosia.
