Little Compton Travel Guide

Little Compton Guide Overview

This area in the southeast corner of the state is quiet, rural Rhode Island at its best, with rolling farmland and tremendous views of the ocean. It's a great place to go bicycling. At the center of the town of Little Compton is the Commons, a typical New England village green, complete with a white-steepled church. And nearby, in the Commons Burial Ground, is the grave of Elizabeth Pabodie, the daughter of John and Priscilla Alden, who were among the very first Pilgrims to settle New England. The Wilbor House is a farmhouse built in 1680, complete with period furnishings. There's a monument to the Rhode Island Red, the state's famous hybrid chicken, in the town of Adamsville. 25 mi/40 km southeast of Providence.
