Lynchburg Travel Guide

Lynchburg Guide Overview

For visitors, the pretty countryside of south-central Tennessee is famous for one thing more than any other: whiskey. The main stop is the Jack Daniel's Distillery in Lynchburg. Tours of the distillery are offered daily, departing about every 15 minutes. The visitors center serves as a museum for the famous sour mash, complete with exhibits that explain whiskey-making and lots of memorabilia. If you want to take some J.D. home with you, whiskey is for sale in the White Rabbit Bottle Shop. (Moore Country, where Lynchburg is located, is a dry county, but a special license allows the distillery to sell alcohol.) For the record, the George Dickel Distillery is found in nearby Tullahoma, but it doesn't cater to visitors as much as Jack Daniel's does. However, the Dickel distillery is the only one with a working U.S. post office, where you can get a unique postmark for your on-the-road correspondence. 65 mi/105 km southeast of Nashville.
