On the southern end of the central valley is Ma'alaea, a windy area of Maui and home to the Maui Ocean Center. There are plenty of restaurants and shops in the Ma'alaea Harbor Village and a number of residential condominiums nearby. Many boat and whale-watching cruises depart from the harbor.
