Madrid's hotels are concentrated in the center of the city, either strung along the main Paseo de Castellana or the Gran Via (the main artery that leads to the historic center). Leisure travelers will be much better off in the city center, where they can walk to most attractions. Advance reservations are advised if you're visiting during the summer months or if you're planning to stay at one of the major hotels in the business areas during the week.
