Maine offers a variety of accommodations, including campgrounds, bed-and-breakfasts, motels, lodges, cottages, inns, resorts and fine hotels. Visitors to the Maine coast will find a wide choice for the summer and fall months, but only with advance reservations—the crowds of vacationers can fill up the available rooms quickly.
There are also oceanfront resorts with tennis and boating (some are closed December-February). Or choose an inland resort that offers skiing in winter and a choice of activities (golf, tennis, fishing, hiking) in summer.
More remote accommodations can be found at wilderness lodges that are open year-round (for those who hunt or fish), self-contained housekeeping cottages by a lake (where you can boat, fish or swim) and even some island lighthouses.
