Located next to an office complex and 5 miles south of Opry Mills, this cookie-cutter Marriott is as familiar to business travelers as cell phones and stale peanuts. Superior to the Wyndham and Holiday Inn Select, this hotel is only acceptable for tourists when everything is booked downtown.
Clean, comfortable and blessed with a modicum of rhinestone-inspired glitz, this monolithic 18-story tower roosts on a wide base of common space, and three-story wings flank it. The marble-floored lobby shows fresh floral arrangements and foliage, chandeliers and well-maintained sitting areas. Each afternoon, a pianist entertains in the bar.
Dining is well-regarded, with the colorful 2 Rivers Restaurant cooking up a tasty American menu amid upbeat contemporary decor. Service and prices are fair, and views take in the tennis courts and the pool. The main lounge is popular for its two big-screen TVs.
The small, well-equipped health club has a fitness room, and the creatively designed indoor-outdoor pool is open in all seasons. A whirlpool and plenty of lounge chairs furnish the well-landscaped sundeck. Two saunas and half-court basketball provide further recreation.
The flexible meeting space seats 880, and the business center keeps bankers'
hours. Lot parking and airport transfers (with wheelchair access) are complimentary.
The pert contemporary guest quarters show off soft greens and taupe accents and standard pine and mahogany furnishings. Plump club chairs and upholstered ergonomic chairs add more comfort. Technology is in the forefront, with thermostats, task lighting, high-speed Internet access, dual-line phones with data ports and voice mail, TVs with video games and digital clock radios. Big-mirrored closets hold irons and ironing boards, and double or king beds are standard. The routine combination baths have pseudo-marble vanities, hair dryers and unimpressive toiletries. Larger corner rooms cost about the same as rooms on the two premium floors but lack the lounge extras. Some rooms are specially outfitted for business travelers, and a dozen ground-level standard rooms open to the pool. Pool rooms can be noisy on the weekends, and those facing the highway suffer from traffic noise.
This hotel is now completely smoke-free, including the guest rooms. Room service stops at midnight. Pets are not permitted.
This efficient hotel sits well below the fine Sheraton Music City for business and leisure folk.
