This lazy seaside village on the southern tip of the Nicoya Peninsula attracts an offbeat clientele but has become increasingly popular with the local elite. Although there are a number of places to stay, you won't find a five-star hotel in Montezuma. Places range from nice to cheap and some are downright primitive. If you're looking for a North American crowd, Sano Banano, owned by the parents of actor Joaquin Phoenix, has a vegetarian restaurant, cabins for rent and screenings of Hollywood movies.
