Housed in the beautiful Andrew Carnegie Mansion, this branch of the Smithsonian Institution is devoted to historic and contemporary design. Its collection of decorative textiles, porcelain and wallpaper traces the development of design through the centuries. Open Monday-Friday 10 am-5 pm, Saturday 10 am-6 pm, Sunday noon-6 pm.
