While El Museo del Barrio is undergoing major renovation, the galleries are closed until autumn 2009. Special programs—films and performances—continue. The museum, founded in 1969, is about a mile/kilometer north of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and is a collection of Latin American art including sculpture, painting and photography. Open Wednesday-Sunday 11 am-5 pm.
