This little village north of Brattleboro is one of the most photographed in the state. Its classic town green, or square, is set off by a graceful white church, courthouse, two country inns and a row of Federalist houses. Both inns—the Old Newfane Inn and the Four Columns Inn—have been beautifully restored and offer fine dining as well as lodging. Across the road, you'll find the Newfane Country Store and a number of antiques stores. For more antiques, go just north of town to Vermont's oldest and largest flea market—it's open on Sundays in the warm-weather months and wraps up its season in October. 75 mi/120 km southeast of Burlington.
