Oaxaca has a wide range of accommodations. Budget and midrange hotels can be found near the Zocalo and at the northern end of the Macedonia Alcala pedestrian mall. There are several attractive luxury hotels in the downtown area, most of them in restored colonial buildings. Bed-and-breakfasts have opened in private homes around town as well. Several deluxe, resort-style hotels are located in the city's northern outskirts. Accommodations in or near the downtown historic center tend to be the most convenient for sightseeing.
