An old salt mine, located above the town on a hill, is the main attraction in Hallein, 10 mi/15 sm south of Salzburg. You can tour the mine at the "World of Salt" and slide down a coal miners' tunnel (wear long pants). The local museum, Keltenmuseum, is at Pflegerplatz 5, where Celtic artifacts are displayed.
