This port city has ancient temples and mosques and the Museum of Maritime Commerce. The highlight of the museum is a Song dynasty ship recently excavated from the harbor.
The Quanzhou region is the ancestral home to many Taiwanese. As a result, Quanzhou is a prosperous and culturally flourishing area. The city has countless opera troupes and a distinctive marionette theater. (The puppets sold there make great souvenirs.) It also has an unusual temple.
