One mile from the airport and 15 minutes east of the Capitol, this seven-story tan midrise hotel is among the best accommodations by the runways. The welcoming residential style here is what makes this place so great. This is a nice change from the cold marble edifices hereabouts, the Marriott included.
The lobby is simple and elegant, with dark wood and marble, and the sitting areas show refinement with their velvet sofas and carved-wood chairs. A comfy library bar with bookshelves and
framed architectural prints is the social center, and the attractive restaurant offers a menu combining Italian and Northern Californian influences at reasonable prices.
A basic exercise room, fair-sized indoor pool, whirlpool and sauna satisfy the fitness set, and eight meeting rooms top off with 200 people for banquets. Frequent shuttles run to the terminals for free, and parking is ample and free.
Guest rooms look fresh and provide top-of-the-line comfort and amenities. Sleek lines and subdued colors highlight expansive work areas with ergonomic chairs, dual-line cordless phones with voice mail and data ports, and excellent task lighting. The complimentary wireless Internet access puts the competition to task. Pillow-top mattresses cover king or queen beds, and TVs reside in armoires. All rooms have coffeemakers, well-lit dressing areas, and irons and ironing boards. Baths are small but provide massaging showerheads, hair dryers and a good selection of toiletries.
Room service is on call until 11 pm. The staff is perky and accommodating, smoothing the way for frantic road warriors. Pets are not permitted.
This hotel would be hard-pressed to compete downtown, but it is a leader beside the tarmac.
