This ancient city has several interesting sights: the Friday Mosque and its 185-ft-/55-m-high spiral minaret; the Balkwqara and Mashouq palaces; the gold dome of the Askaris Shrine; and the Mosque of Almahidi (tile dome). 75 mi/120 km northwest of Baghdad.
