Samcheok is a quaint fishing village and beach town in the middle of a coal-rich area. Within an easy drive are the Yongchu Waterfalls; Seongnyu Limestone Cave; the Jukseo, Mangyang and Wolseong pavilions; and Baegam Hot Springs and Deokgu Hot Springs. Two nights could easily be spent in the area. 120 mi/190 km east of Seoul.
