Development of Shanghai as China's template city of the future has brought with it construction of several new hotels and modernization of older hotels. Accommodations run the gamut from fairly basic guesthouses to luxurious, modern towers. Some small boutique-hotels have also opened in recent months, including M Suites, Mansion Hotel and Jia—sibling of the Philippe Starck-designed Hong Kong original. Other excellent hotels in Puxi include The Portman Ritz-Carlton, J.W. Marriott, Le Royal Meridien and The Four Seasons. In Pudong, try the magnificent Grand Hyatt and the Pudong Shangri-La.
