Though visitors to South Dakota will not find too many deluxe, luxury accommodations, they won't have any difficulty finding properties that are comfortable and well maintained. Because the Rapid City/Black Hills area is so popular, we recommend that reservations be made well in advance during summer-if not, you may be forced to stay up to an hour's drive away from your destination. If you want to stay in the Badlands, the Cedar Pass Lodge cabins (operated by the Oglala Sioux) are right inside Badlands National Park. The cabins are open only May-October, so book ahead (other accommodations are available in Wall and Kadoka, and ranch vacations are possible in this area, as well).
