A very different side of Bhutan is on display in Tashigang—it's surrounded by barley, rice and wheat fields, as well as tropical-fruit orchards.
The best time to visit is October-April: You'll avoid the leeches, mosquitoes and landslides. Although one night is enough to see everything, allow two because the area is so remote and unusual. There are festivals in mid March and late November.
