Located in the center of the business and financial district, this property has been Portland's traditional bastion since 1913, an icon of the timber baron era. But it takes more than history to make a great hotel, and this is where this venerable veteran stumbles. Although service continues to improve, the guests rooms continue to deteriorate. That said, improvements are routinely made, but a thorough makeover of the accommodations is in order.
