Still standing strong, this 200-year-old mansion is a crowd-pleaser, albeit on a far smaller scale. Intimacy and personalized service are the main focus of this ryad. Brilliantly painted surfaces (including an ancient technique called tadilakt where walls are hand-polished) and old-world collectibles complete the public spaces and provide a true sense of time and place.
Breakfast is served each morning with a choice of hot and cold regional specialties and steaming mint tea refreshing enough to revitalize even the most jetlagged of guests (even more so if taken on the panoramic rooftop terrace). During the cooler months, the living room fireplace is a special treat.
Accommodations are divided by floor, essentially providing guests with a suite complete with two bedrooms, a living area and a personal kitchen. Though the theme is a bit more hands-on than other ryads, many guests are delighted by the shelves stocked with cutlery and crockery with which they enjoy their own Moroccan creations. Open terraces survey the serene interior courtyard providing a Moorish residential atmosphere.
Housekeeping makes daily visits, and room service handles special deliveries. Although the amenities are scant, the location and facilities make this the ideal retreat for couples or well-behaved families who appreciate having the run of the house.
