Perched on the west side of hilly Tokoriki Island, far out in the Mamanucas, this is another resort that does not allow children younger than 12 and thus appeals primarily to couples.
Woven matting, sennit cord and other island materials mark the central building. A bar divides the space, with a comfortable lounge on one side, a restaurant serving good international fare on the other,
and a boutique to the rear.
In contrast to the one at nearby Matamanoa, the beach here has more rock shelves than sand, but the barrier reef offshore creates an ideal lagoon for waterskiing, sailboarding, sailing, snorkeling, diving and coral viewing. Two swimming pools offer sunning and swimming alternatives to the beach.
Most of the spacious tin-roofed bungalows are set in thick foliage just off the beach. Similar to those at Matamanoa but without the separate sleeping and living areas, they have air conditioners, wet bars, coffeemakers and porches. Most have outdoor showers behind rock walls. Deluxe bungalows on the hillside afford more privacy and stunning Pacific sweeps. Best are five "Sunset Pool Villas" with private plunge pools; these are among the largest and most luxurious accommodations in the Mamanucas.
Australian and New Zealander couples predominate at this sun lovers' resort. The hotel lacks the intimacy of Matamanoa, but its honeymoon and pool villas provide more privacy and more luxuries.
