Towson Travel Guide

Towson Guide Overview

The county seat of Baltimore County, Towson was once just a city suburb, but it has become its own urban center. With a beautiful courthouse, two colleges and a bustling downtown loaded with shops and restaurants, Towson has become a destination in its own right.

The Hampton Mansion is a stately home that was once the largest mansion in the U.S. Built with a fortune amassed during the Revolutionary War, it boasts extensive gardens and was once the northernmost slave-holding plantation in the country.

Also worth a quick walk is the "old side" of Towson University on York Road, where the buildings date back to the 19th century. 5mi/3km north of Baltimore.
